The Core of Camp Quinebarge is Our Well Trained Staff
At Camp Quinebarge our staff training, lovingly referred to as “Traditions”, is a time when all our staff get oriented to the who, what, when, where, and why of camp. Traditions is busy and fun, giving staffers a chance to bond as a group and prepare for Opening Day. During this time our staff will begin to develop a love and connection to Quinebarge that will only grow throughout the summer. The majority of our staff arrive tonight and we cannot wait to show them what makes Quinebarge so special!
We’ve found that the best counselors are leaders who know how to work very well in groups as well as on their own while enjoying learning from an experienced leadership staff as well as the campers they live with every day! Beyond teaching and leadership skills, we look for maturity, trustworthiness, dependability, flexibility, and a willingness to put campers before themselves. Plus, with a low camper to staff ratio, we aim to ensure every camper gets the care and attention they need. Each year we strive to bring every part of traditions back to our Camp Quinebarge mission and values.
During Traditions we cover such topics as homesickness, how to be a great counselor, basic mental health awareness, behavior management, and so much more! Each counselor also gets specialized training for their program areas including American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, WingSpeed High ropes training, CPR and First Aid, and curriculum development. At the end of Traditions, our Directors assign counselors to their camper cabins, based on individual skills and personalities, so that each age group’s counselor is a perfect fit.
If you’re interested in enrolling or extending your child’s stay, we have spots still available this summer in our Third (July 24-August 6) and Fourth (August 7-August 20th) sessions. To enroll, click here for the direct link to the application.
