Life happens and we believe in being a Quinebarge family
Friends,
I was reminded recently of how even when we are at camp, life continues to happen away from camp, whether through birthdays and graduations, or even family illnesses and worse. Camp Quinebarge tries to support all our campers and staff in both their camp life and with the with issues they are facing outside camp as well.
This past summer three of our staff members lost grand parents. Loss is always heartbreaking. Our role as camp leaders is to support our staff and campers through these times. While we are certainly parentis in loco for our campers, we often assume this role for our young staff as well. Lesley, Nick, Casey and I take these roles seriously; we are proud to make sure our team feel supported and loved and to give people who may be struggling the time and space they need to handle outside issues. It is a testament to the high quality of our staff in how they effortlessly and kindly step in to assist and support grieving friends and team members, whether through extra time off, a hug, text or a good cry. It is a further testament to all that our campers experience don’t miss a beat and we are able to work through issues with integrity and discretion.
Life happens and we believe in being a Quinebarge family. Always.
Eric
