How to Pack for Camp Quinebarge (Without Losing Your Mind—or Your Kid’s Socks)

by on

Ah, summer camp. A magical place filled with campfires, canoeing, lifelong friendships—and, inevitably, a mountain of lost and found items by day two. If you’re prepping for Camp Quinebarge this summer, we’ve got good news: packing doesn’t have to be chaotic, and you can avoid your child becoming a walking “where’s-my-shirt” mystery with just a little planning (and labeling).

Let’s Talk Labels: Full Name or Bust

Here’s the deal: your camper is not going to recognize that shirt labeled “J.S.”
Neither will our staff.
Honestly, we don’t even know who “J.S.” is, and we have a whole list of campers.

Please use full names or at least a first name + last initial. It’s the best way to make sure your camper’s belongings find their way back to them—and not into our ever-growing pile of orphaned socks.

Need a simple solution? Mabel’s Labels has you covered. They offer a magical label stamp, plus waterproof stickers for clothing, shoes, water bottles, flashlights, bug spray—you name it. Just search Camp Quinebarge when you order to support our fundraiser!

The Packing List: Yes, We Have One

Don’t worry, we won’t leave you to figure it out solo. We have a Quinebarge Packing List full of suggestions (and a few things to leave at home).

What to pack:
✔️ Comfy clothes that can get dirty
✔️ Good sneakers and sandals
✔️ Rain gear (because summer weather = surprises)
✔️ Swimsuits, towels, and lots of socks
✔️ Enthusiasm for all the adventures ahead

What not to pack:
✖️ Fancy clothes (except maybe one for the dance!)
✖️ Anything that can’t survive a mud puddle
✖️ Your child’s entire shoe collection

Laundry Happens

We do laundry every Thursday, so you don’t need to send a suitcase large enough to hold three weeks of fashion choices. Instead, consider purchasing one of our Quinebarge laundry bags—they’re easy to label, simple for campers to carry, and somehow more recognizable than a plain black garbage bag (which many kids swear is theirs… until laundry time). You can add this in our camp in touch account or just shoot us an email or text to add it!

Label that laundry bag, please. We’ve had kids stare at their own name written in Sharpie and declare, “That’s not mine.” Now imagine the confusion if there’s no name at all. 😩

Final Thought

Camp is a place to unplug, explore, and maybe lose a sock or two in the process. But with a bit of prep (and a lot of labels), your camper can focus on the fun—and you can avoid the end-of-summer mystery bin of “unclaimed items.”

See you this summer!
