What’s on the Menu? Camp Quinebarge’s Approach to Nutritious, Kid-Friendly Meals
At Camp Quinebarge, we know that great food is a key part of a great camp experience. Mealtimes aren’t just about fueling up—they’re also about comfort, community, and fun. Whether your camper is adventurous or selective with food, we’ve designed our menu to be nutritious, kid-friendly, and welcoming to all dietary needs.
Comforting, Familiar Favorites
Each day begins with a hearty breakfast featuring camp staples like cereal, yogurt, and milk (plus milk alternatives). Hot breakfast options rotate daily and include favorites like scrambled eggs and hash browns, waffles with sausage, and even a make-your-own breakfast sandwich with bagels, eggs, cheese, and sausage.
Lunches and dinners feature crowd-pleasers like pizza, grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, meatball subs, tacos, spaghetti and meatballs, sesame chicken stir fry, and more. We aim for meals that feel familiar and comforting—food that helps campers feel at home while giving them the energy to dive into all their activities.
Healthy Options, Every Meal
We believe in balance, which is why we offer a full salad bar at both lunch and dinner. Campers can load up on greens and toppings, or try out rotating side salads like pasta salad or potato salad. We encourage kids to explore new foods while also making sure they always have options they enjoy.
All Together, Family Style
All meals are served family-style, which means no waiting in lines and more time for conversation and connection at the table. Campers sit wherever they like, creating a relaxed and social environment that reinforces our sense of community.
Each Wednesday evening, we take the fun outdoors with a classic camp cookout featuring hot dogs and hamburgers—a beloved Quinebarge tradition!
Desserts and Camp Treats
Of course, camp wouldn’t be complete without a little something sweet. Dessert is served after every lunch and dinner and might include cake, cookies, whoopie pies, popsicles, or s’mores on campfire nights. These treats help mark the end of a great day and give everyone something to look forward to.
Inclusive Meals for All Diets
We welcome and accommodate campers with dietary restrictions or food allergies. Our kitchen team works closely with our health staff to ensure that every camper is safe, well-fed, and included. Vegetarian options are always available, along with gluten-free noodles, lactose-free cheese, and alternatives for common allergens. We strive to make specialty meals as similar as possible to the general menu, so no camper feels left out—or like they’re missing out.
We encourage parents of campers with more specific dietary concerns to reach out ahead of time to discuss how we can best support your child.
At Camp Quinebarge, meals are about more than just what’s on the plate—they’re about feeling at home, making friends, and starting and ending each day with comfort and care. If you have questions about our food program or how we handle special diets, we’re always happy to chat!
